Studio Update, originally uploaded by She's Batty.

A pic of me working earlier. I've been so busy that the studio has been my second home for the past few months.

I have to apologize for the lack of updates on the blog! I haven't had time to cook up some interesting content because I've been so busy! I thought I should update everyone as I predict that things wont slow down for me until January.

Many of you know that I have Ankylosing Spondylitis and Fibromyalgia. I mention this because as I get busier, my flare ups become more frequent and intense. Right now I'm on a loop of recovering, restocking, doing a show (read: provoking a flare up), and starting all over again - recovering, restocking, show.

As you can imagine that the recovery step takes more time every time the loop cycles. Right now I have an average of 3-4 shows/home parties per week plus restocking in between and managing my online shop. As the recovery process takes longer, the less stock I have at each show, and the more stressed out I become - After all, I want to make sure everyone has all the pampering goodies they are looking for!

Things are certainly a whirlwind right now and I'm so thankful that my little business is doing so well! I'm also thankful that things should slow down and get back to normal in the new year. Being super busy with orders is amazing, but not when my health suffers because of it. I've already figured out a few things to do differently in the new year to make things more balanced. I have to look after my health first and foremost otherwise not only will I burn out, but nobody will get to enjoy my batty creations!

In the new year, I'll reduce the amount of shows I do by half - yup, you read that right, I said half! I feel that since local supporters can order from my online shop (with free delivery), book a home party, or shop at Weezi's 6 days a week, this shouldn't impact regular local customers too much (at least this is my hope). I still plan to be at the Covent Garden Market once a month, so no worries there for all the wonderful people that come out every time I'm there! I've decided to reduce the number of shows I book because this decrease will give me more time to fill orders, connect with customers, and take care of my health without taking away from the needs of my business.

Please accept my apology for the lack of updates and interactions. I'm really trying to make sure everyone who wants Batty's Bath goodies for the holidays has them - thankfully, due to all your support - that's a tall order to fill :) I'm sure since your bathrooms are smelling great, your skin is smooth, and your hair is looking great you don't mind the lack of interesting blog content ;) hehe.

Thanks again for all your support everyone! The blog will get back to "normal" as I have time, and if there's anything you'd like to see here (content and subject matter wise), don't hesitate to late me know. The blog survey is still a a great way to have your voice heard!

Happy Holidays everyone!
Be well :)

It was a really busy weekend in the studio and I was barely online at all! I thought I'd take a picture on Saturday and Sunday so you could see what I was up to. There was a TON of crafting going on trying to get ready for the craft show this week called "Craft Off The Lot" in Toronto. It runs for 4 days, Thursday through Sunday. I just got an invitation to participate at the end of October so I've been madly trying to get enough cards together for a 4 day long event! It's been tough because I'm right in the middle of mid-terms at university. Thankfully my man pitched in and got crafty too! I couldn't have got so much done with out him :)

Hey everyone!
I'm SUPER busy right now trying to get ready for http://craftoffthelot.com/
but I didn't want to leave you hanging with no updates so I took a quick picture of what's going on in the studio! I've been spending all my extra time in here and as you can see I'm making some good progress! That's 40 unfinished butterfly cards you're looking at. I'm hoping to finish them up by tomorrow and move on to paper ornaments and Christmas greeting cards! Stay tuned for more updates :)

(Sing along if you'd like)
It's just another manic monday.
I wish it was Sunday.
Cus that's my fun day.... my I don't have to run day.

Now that we've got that out of the way...

Another week has started and I already feel like I need another weekend. I was exhausted all weekend but had to push myself to prep for the Halloween craft show I'm participating in on Sunday. I made 11 of these Halloween pop up cards, packaged and priced all my halloween cards, and dug out my "craft show bin". This week I have to make new signs for the craft show, package and price my candles, and attempt to stay sane a pass a stats exam on Thursday morning. It's going to be a busy week with an even busier weekend to follow.

After the craft show this weekend I'll be packing up all my Halloween craft supplies until next summer. I've created a number of Christmas pieces already but I need a clean, organized space to make more :) I can't wait until my workspace looks like this again:

See more pictures of my workspace in this flickr set. You'll see what it looks like right now - which is just plain scared LOL.
I haven't posted a studio update in a while so I thought I would share a few pictures of my creations "in progress" for the Bazaar of the Bizarre.

You may notice that these pictures aren't actually taken in my studio, but rather our kitchen table! I have so many projects on the go right now my creations have spilled out into the rest of the house!

I'm not going to say too much able the pictures below because they are more of a "sneak peek" at what I'll have a the show (nope, you can't get these goodies online this year!).

The picture above isn't something I'm cooking up for the bazaar, oh no, these are cookies were baked because I needed energy to keep me creating! What could be more fitting than Halloween sugar cookies while getting ready for the Bazaar of the Bizarre? lol. I love sugar cookies and I love Halloween so these are pretty close to my idea of heaven haha ;)

Here's a picture of my studio from today. Can you believe this is what my work space looks like when it's "clean yet productive"?! If it's any cleaner than this you know I'm not getting anything done because all those embellishments, rolls of ribbon, and other supplies are put away.

I just designed my logo! I know I should have done this a long time ago but better late than never right? Let me know what you think in the comments :)
The studio wasn't as busy as I would have liked it this week because I was sick for most of the week but here's a look at a few of the creations that I made.

Most of my creations this week where paper based and I hope to have pictures to share with you soon.

I'll have better pictures of the above creations soon so stay tuned :)

Do you use the same ornaments for Halloween and Christmas? I sure do! I had to make a Christmas card that was a bit more spooky than the usual type of Christmas card design. This card is an original gocco print and I printed this design on red and dark navy cardstock. I don't know if I'll be printing this design again so snag it before it's gone :)

The card says "Wishing You a Haunting Holiday" and was inspired by Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas. It measures 5.5 x 4 inches and is blank inside for you to add your own personal message.

Every month I like to run a fun series. Every Monday I post a new blog entry in the featured series. Last month, I featured the "Super Resource List Series" which included a current look at my personal bookmarks for Crafty BlogsOther Blog StuffTwitter Resources, and Misc Resources. If you missed last month's series, you missed out on some great resources! Don't worry though, you can follow the links above and get in the loop :)

This month my feature series is called "My Artist Studio Series: A Closer Look at Where I Work". I really hope other people share their work spaces too because I love to see where other people get creative. BTW, Flickr has some great artsy workspaces.

Last week I showed you some of the goodies by my wooden work table. This week (the final post of this series), I'm featuring my drafting table. Yes, it's a drafting table that I don't do any "drafting" on hehe.

Above is a close up of the things on top of the "drafting" table.

Above are some fun jars that I picked up at the Dollar Store. I plan to sort out my paper craft embellishments into by seasonal theme (Christmas, Halloween, etc).

 ***********

I hope you enjoyed taking a peek at where I work this month!
